We are seeking an energetic and dynamic individual to join our team as a Housing Grant Program Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to work in community revitalization and make a real difference in the lives of residents in Schenectady and surrounding areas.

About the Role

The Housing Grant Program Coordinator will play a key role in administering housing assistance programs that support the creation and preservation of affordable housing. This includes managing applications, communicating with clients, selecting projects, managing bids and contractors, overseeing projects, inspecting properties, and processing payments.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in non-profit organizations, preferably in housing and community development. A strong understanding of community development policies and procedures, as well as municipal business practices, is beneficial but not required.

As a Housing Grant Program Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the assigned program(s) and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will also be expected to collaborate with property owners, city government staff, building inspectors, contractors, and other stakeholders.

This position offers a salary starting at $35,000 per year (40 hours/week), along with employee benefits (dental and health insurance, paid time off, retirement plan).

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in non-profit organizations, preferably in housing and community development
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Basic math skills and ability to perform grant and financial management functions
  • Detailed-oriented and organized with ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Negotiation, problem resolution, and interpersonal skills
