Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our team at the Bowery Residents Committee. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and substance abuse issues in their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with clients in social services and case management to support their housing and recovery goals.
- Assist clients with skill building, provide relevant referrals, and coordinate care.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and community providers to provide additional support.
- Work in coordination with the clinical team to support the holistic needs of clients.
- Escort and assist clients in attending appointments and provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.
- H.S. diploma/GED and Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) required.
- Training and/or experience in homeless services, substance abuse treatment, and mental health services.
- Bilingual abilities a plus.
- Basic computer literacy required.
- CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.
