Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our team at the Bowery Residents Committee. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in achieving their housing and recovery goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with clients in social services and case management to provide support and guidance in achieving their housing and recovery goals.
  • Assist clients in skill building, provide relevant referrals, and coordinate care to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and community providers to provide additional support and resources.
  • Work in coordination with the clinical team to support the holistic needs of clients.
  • Escort and assist clients in attending appointments and providing emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to ensure seamless care coordination.
Requirements
  • H.S. diploma/GED and Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) required.
  • Training and/or experience in homeless services, substance abuse treatment, and mental health services.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • CPR training certification or willingness to take training class in CPR.
