The Surgical Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the direct and indirect care of patients within the surgical environment. This position is responsible for meticulous documentation of all aspects of medical care provided to patients in both perioperative and outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare surgical suites by collecting, organizing, and setting up necessary surgical supplies and equipment for procedures.
- Oversee the inventory of surgical supplies and equipment, alerting relevant personnel when restocking is required.
- Operate medical devices and perform technical tasks in accordance with established policies and care standards; seek assistance promptly when necessary.
- Restock surgical suites with appropriate supplies following the conclusion of daily procedures.
- Collaborate with surgical and clinical team members to develop coordinated care plans and interventions for patient progress.
- Accurately document intraoperative information on each patient's medical record.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the operating rooms at all times.
- Adhere to established HIPAA regulations and procedures consistently.
- Take responsibility for attendance and timely completion of mandatory training programs and unit-specific requirements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills across diverse audiences.
- Strong listening abilities with the capacity to quickly understand instructions in urgent situations.
- Ability to analyze patient data and implement appropriate action plans.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
