Construction Estimator Role at The Old Dominion Group

The Old Dominion Group is looking for a skilled Construction Estimator to become a vital part of our Preconstruction Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee bid pricing from various suppliers
  • Evaluate documentation, liaise with suppliers and contractors, and conduct site visits as necessary
  • Continuously research material, equipment, and labor costs
  • Execute take-offs utilizing software for precise estimates
  • Create comprehensive estimates and purchase orders
  • Ensure timely submission of bid packages
  • Assess costs and modify estimating processes as required
  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers and trade partners
  • Manage change orders while ensuring projects remain within budget
  • Identify potential growth avenues for the organization
  • Efficiently maintain project logs and directories

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience in construction estimating
  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Proficient in interpreting architectural plans and specifications
  • Strong communication and analytical abilities
  • Competent in MS Word and Excel
  • Self-driven and a collaborative team member

Assistant Estimator:

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with commercial construction processes
  • Capability to navigate construction blueprints and plans
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong customer service and organizational abilities
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and relevant computer applications

Take Off Engineer:

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Understanding of construction processes and cost factors
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and relevant computer applications

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk
  • Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and climb
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and meetings
  • Proficient use of hands and fingers for keyboard and phone tasks
  • Capable of lifting up to 15 lbs
