Key Responsibilities of the Cost Accounting Manager:
- Direct and oversee cost accounting operations, including job costing, standard costing, and variance analysis.
- Establish and uphold precise cost accounting systems and protocols.
- Evaluate and scrutinize manufacturing expenses, preparing regular reports that contrast standard costs with actual production expenditures.
- Provide in-depth cost analysis and financial reporting to upper management.
- Aid in the formulation of budgets and forecasts, offering insights into cost trends and identifying potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Supervise physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Assess inventory valuations and manage inventory reserves.
- Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the cost accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Offer training and guidance to team members on cost accounting practices and systems.
- Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and procedures.
- Maintain and enforce robust internal controls to protect company assets.
- Work with external auditors during audits and ensure prompt resolution of audit findings.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Over 5 years of experience in cost accounting, ideally within the manufacturing sector.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and developing a team.
- Strong grasp of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in NetSuite is advantageous, along with advanced Excel skills.
