Job Overview:
This role is integral to the athletics administrative team, focusing on strategic departmental planning and ensuring the health and safety of student-athletes, coaches, and staff. The position provides leadership and oversight for healthcare services, including injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation, adhering to NCAA Division II regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the procurement and administration of the student-athlete insurance program, ensuring adherence to NCAA health and safety standards.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, including the management of injury documentation, rehabilitation sessions, and medical records for student-athletes.
- Supervise Athletic Trainers and oversee the Athletic Training budget while maintaining communication with athletic administration, coaches, student-athletes, and healthcare providers.
- Make independent clinical decisions regarding the prevention, assessment, immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for athletic training services in line with NATA professional standards.
- Coordinate the student-athlete drug-testing program and ensure adequate coverage for practices and competitions.
- Act as a liaison between insurance providers, medical professionals, and student-athletes concerning sports-related injuries.
- Establish and implement risk management policies and procedures.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry trends and maintain professional credentials.
- Communicate effectively with the immediate supervisor regarding challenges, issues, and suggestions for program enhancement.
- Support the overarching vision of the CBU Athletics Department.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
This position reports to the Director of Athletics and requires the ability to cultivate positive relationships with faculty, staff, and students while effectively engaging with department personnel and the broader college community.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education and hold NATA certification as an Athletic Trainer. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience is required, along with strong communication and computer skills. Candidates must also have or be willing to obtain AED/CPR certification and be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
Five (5) years of relevant experience is preferred.
