POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Sustainability Compliance Officer plays a vital role in supporting the Environmental Manager by overseeing data collection and reporting, and managing environmental systems in both direct and supervisory capacities. This position may involve supervising field personnel on various technical and construction-related matters across multiple divisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collect, report, and monitor environmental data at designated sites, ensuring compliance with facility operating records.
  • Engage in public relations and due diligence activities, liaising with management and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct site audits and analyze environmental reports, assisting with necessary sampling and reporting.
  • Oversee project implementation and ensure completion of essential initiatives.
  • Manage landfill monitoring and the operation of gas extraction and leachate management systems.
  • Collaborate with external vendors on environmental systems, providing recommendations on their activities.
  • Ensure compliance through air and water monitoring, data review, and tracking of compliance tasks.
  • Facilitate formal and informal training for Environmental Technicians and other staff.
  • Assist with project management tasks related to construction, including progress tracking and compliance verification.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Comprehensive understanding of environmental regulations pertaining to air, water, solid waste, and recycling.
  • Effective time management skills to ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient interpersonal skills for interaction across various organizational levels and with external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset focused on delivering value to the organization.
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret business documents, technical procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Four years of experience or knowledge in environmental science, engineering, geology, or a related field.
