Job Title: Director of Financial Aid and Operations

Sul Ross State University seeks a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of Financial Aid and Operations. This key leadership position plays a critical role in ensuring the university's compliance with federal, state, and institutional funds, while providing exceptional support to students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise a team of financial aid professionals across multiple campuses, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Oversee the administration of financial aid to university students, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of funds.
  • Develop and implement financial aid policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring uniform adherence to established regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Enrollment Management to plan, coordinate, and implement operating procedures for financial aid programs, ensuring seamless integration with university operations.
  • Monitor and analyze financial aid data, identifying trends and areas for improvement, and making recommendations for process enhancements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Financial Aid Programs or related experience, with a proven track record of leadership and supervision.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of supervisory experience, with a focus on team development and performance management.
  • Completion of the NASFAA Professional Credentials, demonstrating expertise in financial aid regulations and compliance.
  • Working knowledge of university policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations relating to Financial Aid.
  • Proficiency with Ellucian Banner Student Information System, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in public or business administration, accounting, or related field, with a focus on leadership and management.
  • NASFAA Certified Financial Aid Administrator, demonstrating advanced knowledge and expertise in financial aid regulations and compliance.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of work experience leading a proficient financial aid team, with a proven track record of success and growth.
  • Experience managing a team on multiple campuses, with a focus on collaboration and communication.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations.
Working Conditions:
  • Normal office conditions, with some travel required for professional development and team meetings.
  • The position is Security Sensitive, requiring a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
