Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Technical Laboratory Associate to join our team at Penn State Health. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for receiving and processing cytology specimens, ensuring specimen identity and acceptability, and entering orders for laboratory testing into our Lab Information System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process cytology specimens, verifying identity and acceptability
  • Enter orders for laboratory testing into the Lab Information System
  • Enter patient demographic and insurance information into the patient registration system
  • Prepare cytology specimens for analysis
  • Answer telephone inquiries and provide information related to specimen requirements, test availability, and specimen testing status
  • Provide laboratory results to patients and healthcare providers
  • Prepare specimens for referral to outside reference laboratories and ensure storage requirements are met

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma plus additional training or equivalent knowledge required
  • Training of up to 18 months beyond the high school level or equivalent knowledge required
  • Applicants trained outside of the United States must provide documentation of equivalency evaluation of their education and training to ensure it is equivalent to CLIA requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six (6) months job-related experience preferred
