Job Responsibilities
As a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Registered Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough patient assessments and formulating individualized care plans.
- Collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
- Performing age-appropriate assessments upon patient arrival in the surgical suite.
- Assisting with patient care during anesthesia induction and preparing patients for local anesthesia.
- Maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment.
- Executing correct surgical preparations.
- Documenting and reporting patient care accurately.
- Demonstrating proficiency in various surgical specialties and equipment.
- Engaging in professional development and assisting in the orientation of new staff.
- Completing annual competencies as required by the department.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Operating Room Registered Nurse in a hospital setting.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience as a Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse.
Education:
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
