Nurse Clinician OBGYN Outpatient Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Clinician OBGYN Outpatient to join our team at MedStar Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, education, and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing care to patients in the OBGYN outpatient setting, following established standards and practices.
- Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, treatments, and procedures in accordance with nursing standards.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Observe, record, and report patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Dispense medication as directed and maintain accurate and legible documentation.
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination, screens patients for appropriate information, and instructs patients in the collection of samples and tests.
- Perform patient telephone triage, assess needs, and coordinates needs with medical staff.
- Triage walk-in patients and provides guidance, determining the most appropriate course of action for the patient to take regarding obtaining an appointment in the clinic, referral to another facility, or home care advice.
- Consults with the provider as necessary and dispenses telephone advice and recommendations from the provider as requested.
- Assists in supervising other clinical staff in absence of Nurse Clinician II and assists in education of clinical and administrative staff to elevate care and service offered by the department.
- Adapts to and excels in the use of all electronic programs utilized in the division/department, including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Azyxxi, Outlook, and general computer applications.
- Adheres to all HIPPA, MEDSTAR, and GUH Privacy policies and observes and complies with Joint Commission standards at all times.
- Supports and participates in implementation of clinic improvement projects developed by Nurse Clinician II and Administrator.
- Assists in orientation and training of clinical staff and serves as a mentor during probationary period.
- Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing.
- 1-2 years of professional nursing experience, with at least 1 year of telephone triage, pediatric experience, and previous use of electronic medical records.
- Previous outpatient experience preferred.
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Registered Nurse, licensed in the District of Columbia.
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
