General Overview:
The individual in this role is primarily tasked with supporting Hutchinson's Service Division, focusing on the installation, inspection, and testing of marine product lines on military and commercial vessels, as well as similar applications across various locations.

Key Responsibilities:
Willingness to travel to diverse shipyards for the installation of Hutchinson OEM products on various vessels and applications.


  • Adhere to all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, promptly reporting any hazardous situations, near-misses, or injuries.
  • Install and evaluate components and assemblies across multiple military and commercial applications.
  • Prepare and organize tools and equipment for installation tasks.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of technical outputs from oneself and others (including test results, designs, and procedures).
  • Generate detailed trip reports.
  • Manage personal time effectively, ensuring organization and prioritization of tasks.
  • Commit to upholding high standards of safety, order, and cleanliness.
  • When not traveling, engage in duties within the plant maintenance department.

Qualifications:
The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:


  • 3-5 years of relevant mechanical or technical experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude for handling hardware, hand and power tools, mechanical fasteners, and chemical-based adhesives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Ability to present information and respond to inquiries from various stakeholders, including managers, clients, and military personnel.
  • Capability to navigate ladders and confined spaces aboard vessels.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate last-minute and extended travel commitments, including air travel within the continental United States.
  • Ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel requirements.
  • Quick problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and take on leadership roles.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with peers, supervisors, and clients.
  • Must successfully complete a background check to gain access to secure military facilities.
  • Valid driver's license.

Work Environment:
This position involves working on ships and in a manufacturing environment, requiring proficiency in handling hardware, tools, and chemical-based materials.

Physical Demands:
The physical requirements for this role include the ability to move potentially heavy items (up to 80 lbs.), navigate stairs on ships, stand for extended periods, and work in confined spaces, as well as endure varying temperatures.

Required Experience:

  • Three to five years of relevant mechanical or technical experience.
  • High technical aptitude.

Preferred Education:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and ear protection as needed.
