We are currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Body Installer. This role is integral to our operations and reports to the Install Supervisor.

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Body Installer is tasked with the installation of roll-off hoists, cranes, container carriers, hooklifts, and other heavy machinery onto chassis, utilizing their training, experience, knowledge, and education in accordance with customer specifications and proper installation guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and comprehend prints, specifications, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Safely and efficiently mount equipment onto chassis.
  • Conduct tests and inspections at each completed stage of the installation process.
  • Plan and layout technical components, ensuring proper installation techniques are applied.
  • Understand blueprints and plumb both high-pressure and low-pressure hydraulic systems.

Electrical Responsibilities:
Connect body builder components with various chassis applications.

PTO Installation:
Experience with installing transmission-mounted and engine-mounted PTOs on heavy-duty vehicles.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lift axles, air brake systems, and other air-operated components.
  • Adhere to all written instructions regarding tool requirements and inspection plans.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately at the time of task completion.
  • Maintain responsibility for all company tools in designated areas.
  • Propose process improvements to supervisors or management.
  • Utilize measuring instruments, including tape measures to 1/32 inch.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must be capable of walking, sitting, using hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms; balancing; stooping; bending; kneeling; and climbing. The ability to safely lift and move up to 60 pounds regularly is essential.
