Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Liaison plays a crucial role in overseeing the management of medication storage and handling, including vaccines, samples, and emergency medication supplies. This position is essential for ensuring that clinic pharmacy services are executed effectively, while collaborating with various stakeholders to identify challenges, create effective solutions, and enhance patient care.

Qualifications:


• Must possess a SC Certified Pharmacy Technician certification.


• A minimum of 5 years of experience in retail or a related pharmacy setting is preferred.


• Fundamental knowledge of pharmacology is essential.

Primary Responsibilities:


• Provide daily customer service support for medication samples and assistance programs.


• Manage floor stock and vaccine formularies by maintaining appropriate inventory levels and processing orders.


• Collaborate with procurement to ensure clinics receive approved medications and vaccines.


• Monitor inventory for soon-to-expire items and redistribute as necessary.


• Accurately document the addition of inventory into the electronic medical record system.


• Complete all required annual training.


• Troubleshoot and coordinate with support services for temperature-controlled storage units.


• Assist new clinical staff in accessing necessary resources.


• Organize pharmaceutical manufacturer educational sessions.


• Facilitate the return of expired or unused medications and vaccines.


• Maintain documentation for medication storage, including temperature logs and calibration records.


• Ensure proper handling and storage of medications and vaccines.


• Support the transportation of medications to various sites as per established guidelines.


• Assist Pharmacy Patient Benefits Counselors with the management of drug assistance medications.


• Adhere to SC Board of Pharmacy regulations regarding medication storage and handling.


• Maintain regular communication with team members through various channels.


• Attend meetings to contribute to the planning and implementation of service directives.

Physical Requirements:

• Hearing: Sufficient to perform job duties in person and over the phone.

• Speaking: Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.

• Vision: Adequate visual acuity for reading printed materials and computer screens.

• Other: May require occasional lifting of items up to 10 pounds unassisted and up to 30 pounds for specific tasks. Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive movements are necessary, along with standing, walking, and sitting throughout the work shift.
