Position Overview:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient population. The APRN conducts assessments and treatments independently while collaborating with other healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include ensuring effective care for illnesses and injuries, as well as disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. The APRN may prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests, offering guidance to patients regarding ongoing care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with collaborating physicians on the development, assessment, and modification of treatment plans.
  • Conduct thorough neurological assessments, including patient history, physical examinations, and neurological evaluations.
  • Design and implement treatment strategies for patients with neurological disorders such as migraines, neuropathy, tremors, and dizziness.
  • Assist neurologists with procedures, including lumbar punctures, nerve conduction studies, and Botox injections.
  • Perform specific procedures independently, adhering to state and institutional regulations.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions to address complex cases and formulate comprehensive care plans.
  • Document complete physical examinations and detailed health histories.
  • Function autonomously to conduct age-appropriate histories and physicals for patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests based on the patient's age-specific requirements.
  • Prescribe suitable pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment options.
  • Implement interventions to assist patients in regaining or maintaining physiological stability.
  • Support the provision of care in compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of implemented interventions.
  • Facilitate patient transitions within and between healthcare settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Support decision-making for staff, patients, and families by providing educational resources.
  • Adhere to UHealth Tower and unit-level policies and procedures, safeguarding institutional assets.

Core Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in a relevant field.

Certification and Licensing:
Valid State of Florida APRN License.

Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) through recognized organizations.


Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in a neurology setting, with a focus on patient management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in critical decision-making.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments.
  • Capability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms.
