About the Role:

The HR Generalist will play a critical role in supporting the business operations of Hearthside Food Solutions. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the hourly staffing process, managing the site's relationship with third-party staffing agencies, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, interview, and extend job offers to applicants
  • Manage the site's relationship with third-party staffing agencies
  • Process and track employee I9's to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Utilize HRIS systems to input new hire information and track employee data
  • Interpret and explain company policies to ensure site compliance
  • Manage employee leave programs, including FMLA, personal LOA, medical LOA, and bereavement
  • Handle unemployment inquiries and hearings
  • Operate as a backup to the Payroll Coordinator for bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Assist with broader human capital projects, including employee engagement surveys and benefits open enrollment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent experience in Human Resources
  • PHR or SPHR Certification preferred
  • 3 or more years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in a unionized, multi-cultural production/manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ERISA, COBRA/HIPPA, and others
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt to change
  • Demonstrated computer skills in MS Office applications
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team atmosphere
  • Flexibility to work off-shift hours when needed
