Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner

As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), you will conduct examinations for individuals who have experienced sexual violence, adhering to the guidelines set forth by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Your responsibilities will include assessing medical stability, identifying injuries, collecting forensic evidence, and coordinating counseling and follow-up care. You may also be required to provide testimony in legal proceedings when necessary.
COLLABORATION
In this role, you will work closely with law enforcement agencies, healthcare professionals, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The SANE center serves the surrounding counties, offering a secure and confidential environment for patients. Our team consists of nurses with specialized training, providing immediate medical attention around the clock to those affected by sexual violence. Additional support services, including counseling, are also available.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
To qualify for this position, you must possess a current, unencumbered RN license in Oregon. A minimum of two years of nursing experience is required, with at least one year in an acute care setting. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers is also necessary.
AGH SANE NURSE PROGRAM
Completion of IAFN SANE-A or Oregon Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner certification is expected within one year of employment.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to convey complex information clearly and collaborate effectively with team members.
