Job Overview

At Office Depot, Inc., the Senior Retail Assistant Manager plays a crucial role within the store's leadership framework. Utilizing your leadership skills and industry knowledge, you will be responsible for driving overall sales and service growth within our retail locations. This position is accountable for meeting sales targets across various services and leading the sales training initiatives within the store. The Senior Retail Assistant Manager will foster a customer-focused atmosphere, engage with the local community, and promote a positive culture that aligns with the Office Depot core values of Customer, Commitment, Change, Caring, and Creativity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Team Development:
    • Guide, mentor, and provide continuous training to store associates, including Print Services staff, to ensure sales and service objectives are achieved.
    • Conduct training sessions on the business model and comprehensive service offerings for clients/customers.
    • Observe, coach, and offer constructive feedback to enhance associate skills and cultivate a culture of trust and brand loyalty.
    • Collaborate with the General Manager to support hiring and staffing efforts at the store.
    • Exercise independent judgment in evaluating store associates' performance and competencies.
    • Undertake additional responsibilities as necessary.
  • Sales and Service Excellence:
    • As a member of the management team, inspire the team to deliver memorable customer experiences and ensure client satisfaction.
    • Implement Office Depot's selling techniques and sales training throughout the store personnel.
    • Encourage a sales-driven environment by taking ownership of sales and service outcomes.
    • Serve as a role model for exceptional customer service and product knowledge.
  • Operational Efficiency:
    • Ensure the team processes merchandise accurately and efficiently, adhering to established procedures and visual merchandising standards.
    • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement strategies to minimize waste and inefficiencies.
    • As a store leader, ensure compliance with loss prevention protocols.
    • Assist the General Manager with performance management by providing guidance and effective coaching to associates.
    • Contribute to sales and profitability growth through conversion, Average Order Value (AOV), and customer satisfaction initiatives.
  • External Key Carrier Responsibilities:
    • Maintain the safety and security of the store and associates during the absence of other managers.
    • Collaborate with all associates to ensure compliance with loss prevention standards.
    • Perform opening and closing duties, including managing the store's alarm system and cash handling.
    • Fulfill responsibilities associated with the External Key Carrier designation.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Preferred fields of study include Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or related disciplines.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience required.
  • At least two years of experience in retail, including management or supervisory roles in a sales-driven, customer-focused environment. Experience in a service-oriented industry is advantageous.
  • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to utilize technology for information access and job completion.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and manage others in a professional setting.
  • Strong skills in influencing, coaching/motivating, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
  • Results-driven, capable of directing others, making quality decisions, and demonstrating business acumen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute detailed instructions efficiently.
