Job Title: Pastry Sous Chef

Groot Hospitality is seeking a skilled Pastry Sous Chef to join our team at Komodo - Las Vegas. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily execution of all assigned kitchen food production and service execution in connection with desserts.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Chef with day-to-day supervision of the bakery team, including hiring recommendations, disciplining, and coaching team members.
  • Participate in the development and research of new recipes and special events with the Executive Chef and Corporate Pastry Chef.
  • Inspect all bakery items upon completion to ensure they meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Corporate Pastry Chef to reduce operating costs without compromising quality or service.
  • Maintain a safe and hazard-free work environment, reporting accidents and completing incident reports as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Previous experience as a pastry cook, sous chef, or relevant role.
  • Strong knowledge of dessert and pastry techniques.
  • Ability to prepare mise en place for daily service and applicable closing duties.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines.
Working Conditions:
  • This position requires standing for 100% of the time.
  • Occasional exposure to cold, heat, and moisture.
  • The individual must be able to transport up to 40 pounds on occasion and up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand basic pastry cooking directions.
