Dewberry's dynamic office environment is home to a diverse group of design professionals, including a leading Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural (MEPS) Healthcare Group. This team specializes in master-planning and design services for healthcare facilities and campus infrastructure, catering to many major clients in the regions we serve. Our extensive healthcare portfolio encompasses trauma centers, oncology facilities, ambulatory care centers, central utility plants, and medical education buildings. Our experts frequently participate in and present at significant industry conferences.

Due to our expanding project pipeline, we are looking for a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our existing Healthcare department. In this role, you will spearhead the design of mechanical systems tailored for healthcare applications. You will collaborate closely with fellow mechanical engineers and coordinate with structural, civil, electrical, and other disciplines to deliver comprehensive services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing mechanical engineering calculations, reports, construction drawings, specifications, project timelines, and cost estimates to fulfill project requirements.
  • Providing technical guidance and quality oversight, including code reviews, for all project deliverables.
  • Offering technical training and mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Assisting in the development and enhancement of standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications.
  • Serving as the Engineer of Record.
  • Delivering immediate technical advice and cost estimates as needed.
  • Coordinating with all involved disciplines, including external consultants.
  • Engaging with code officials and contractors for technical discussions.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • A Professional Engineer's license, with preference for existing licensure in relevant states.
  • A minimum of 15 years of technical experience in healthcare system design.
  • Strong self-motivation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
