Job Overview

Williams Mullen Clark Dobbins PC is in search of a dedicated full-time Estate and Trust Paralegal. This role requires an individual who can foster and uphold robust relationships with various stakeholders including trustees, executors, beneficiaries, investment advisors, accountants, insurance agents, appraisers, and court officials throughout the administration of assigned trusts and estates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trust Administration: Prepare tax filings such as fiduciary income tax returns, gift tax returns, and estate tax returns, along with inventories, accounts, and necessary documentation for property transfers and distributions.
  • Asset Management: Oversee periodic income and principal distributions from trusts and facilitate the transfer of assets into trusts.
  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate financial records for trusts.
  • Allocation Preparation: Create schedules for allocations to trusts as stipulated in wills.
  • Asset Distribution: Manage the distribution of trust assets upon termination of the trust.

Estate Administration:

  • Prepare all necessary documentation for the admission of testamentary documents to the court and the qualification of personal representatives.
  • Identify the location and ownership of decedent's assets based on available records and assist the Executor or administrator in the collection and valuation of assets.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for estate investments.
  • Draft or assist in drafting affidavits, statements, schedules, settlements, orders, tax returns, accountings, and documents necessary for the transfer and distribution of assets to beneficiaries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and/or a relevant paralegal certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in trusts and estates within a law firm setting.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks across various files simultaneously.
