Key Responsibilities- Assemble products according to customer specifications, using hand tools and power tools.
- Verify conformance of parts to stock lists and blueprints, using measuring instruments.
- Align components for assembly, manually or with hoist, and bolt, screw, dowel, or weld using hand tools and welding equipment.
- Remove high spots and smooth surfaces using chisels, scrapers, files, and powered hand grinders.
- Assemble, set up, and operate machines to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to customer specifications.
- Form, bend, and fasten piping, fixtures, and attachments required to service machines with air, water, and oil.
- Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts, using measuring instruments.
- Install moving parts, such as shafts, levers, or bearings, and work them to test free movement and operation of assembly by hand.
- Test or assist in testing operation of completed products.
- Solid mechanical skills and ability to proficiently use cranes and other heavy tools and equipment.
- Ability to use judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of operations and processes within established or standard methods and procedures.
- Ability to interpret customer prints well enough to determine appropriate disassembly sequence for variety of heavy equipment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use basic shop math.
- Ability to verbally communicate with team members, supervisors, and engineers.
- Possess the physical strength and ability to safely handle heavy equipment and tools.
A high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of mechanical assembly and disassembly experience.
