Key Responsibilities

The Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and identifying cyber events and incidents within information systems and networks under general supervision. This role involves assisting with integrated and dynamic cyber defense strategies, coordinating and maintaining security toolsets to support continuous monitoring and ongoing authorization programs for organizations. A framework will be established to measure and quantify cyber risk in the marketplace.

Security requirements will be determined by evaluating business strategies and requirements, researching information security standards, conducting system security and vulnerability analyses, and performing risk assessments. The engineer will study architecture/platforms, identify integration issues, and prepare cost estimates.

Security systems will be implemented by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment, directing the installation and calibration of equipment and software, preparing preventive and reactive measures, creating and maintaining keys, providing technical support, and completing documentation. The engineer will verify security systems by developing and implementing test scripts.

Maintaining security is crucial, which includes monitoring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures, conducting incident response analyses, and developing training programs.

This role also involves the design, development, implementation, and integration of Department of Defense Information Assurance architectures, systems, or components for use within computing, network, and enclave environments. Ensuring that the architecture and design of development and operational systems are functional and secure is essential, including designs for program of record systems and special purpose processing nodes with platform IT interconnectivity.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is highly desired, equivalent to two (2) years of experience. A Master's degree in a Technical Field will be considered equivalent to four (4) years of experience. Degrees in Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar fields will also be considered.
  • One of the following certifications is required:
    • AWS Certified Developer-Associate
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Associate
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Professional
    • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator-Associate
    • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKAD)
    • Elastic Certified Engineer
    • Elastic Certified Observability Engineer
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in system engineering/architecture.
  • Ten (10) years of experience working with products that support highly distributed, massively parallel computation needs such as Hbase, Hadoop, Accumulo, Big Table, Cassandra, Scality, etc.
  • At least ten (10) years of experience writing software scripts using scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Ruby for software automation.
  • At least four (4) years of experience managing and monitoring large Cloud Systems.
  • Experience in providing technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of complete hardware/software systems, including monitoring the technical health of a system, improving organizational processes, and implementing postmortem (failure) analysis and incident management.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with a current polygraph is required.
  • Required: ElasticSearch, AWS, and System Admin or DevOps experience.

    Key Skills and Experience include:
