POSITION SUMMARY
Reports To: Manager/ Unit Director
Training: HSFAC required, Zero Suicide training and CPI required
Position Overview:
The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for engaging individuals facing substance use challenges and providing essential non-clinical support and recovery resources while ensuring consistent follow-up with these individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Educate individuals on effectively navigating treatment, social services, and recovery support systems.
2. Serve as a positive role model for individuals and their families by sharing personal experiences, hope, and practical skills.
3. Maintain relationships with individuals and families to assist in the treatment engagement and retention process.
4. Reinforce and assure patients and their families that recovery is achievable, relying on the unique strengths, coping mechanisms, and resources of each individual.
5. Support individuals in acquiring the skills and resources necessary to initiate and sustain their recovery journey.
6. Help create and maintain a supportive social and physical environment conducive to recovery.
7. Actively identify and participate in the recovery community.
8. Advocate for effective community treatment and recovery options.
9. Empower individuals to make self-directed and informed choices regarding their recovery pathways.
10. Provide on-call support as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
Valid NJ Driver's License required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in the principles of recovery.
