About the Job

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Officer to join our team at Vets Hired. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for providing physical security protection of our facilities and ensuring the safety and security of our employees, visitors, and assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Security Protocols: Familiarize yourself with all normal and emergency security procedures, including intrusion detection, video surveillance, and personnel access control systems. Report any observed system malfunctions and adapt to all existing and future security-enhancing system add-ons, changes, and upgrades.
  2. Facility Knowledge: Become familiar with the physical layout of our facilities, including building utilities, sprinkler systems, machinery, and any special features.
  3. Rotating Shifts: Work on a rotating shift, dependent on the particular post and shift, and perform the following tasks:
    1. Access Control: Visually check security area access badges, escort personnel or visitors, and maintain records of badge issuance.
    2. Patrols: Travel around the building(s), checking on locked safes, looking for safety hazards, security violations, or unauthorized activity. Write entries into shift logs and complete checklists.
    3. Emergency Response: Respond to alarms and emergency situations by summoning the Security Manager, staff, police, fire, or other emergency personnel as needed. Record emergency response and actions.
    4. Sensitive Material Control: Ensure the protection and proper control of sensitive material, including documents, printouts, and associated media, during security checks within the controlled area of the facility.
    5. Professional Appearance: Maintain a professional appearance at all times while on duty, adhering to company dress code and security attire.
    6. Assistance: Assist with unloading/loading of supplies or equipment, relocating furniture or other bulky items within the facility and/or storage areas.
    7. Additional Tasks: Perform other tasks as instructed by the Security Manager, which may include tasks outside the normal scope of security.
  4. Receptionist Duties: Perform Receptionist duties for all facilities utilizing a computerized visitor control system and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least one year of work experience.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use a computer and associated software.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to cover facility and conduct security rounds, respond on short notice to alarms or emergency situations, and lift packages or materials weighing 10 pounds.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and follow and comply with instructions, procedures, and directives.
  • Availability: Must be prepared to work different shifts and overtime hours on short notice as needs dictate.
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.
