Lead Fumigation Technician

Compensation: $21.15/hr Training Rate; $22.61/hr Pay

Position Overview:

The Fumigation Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the Sterilization Fumigation sector within the production facility. This role includes managing the Sterilization chambers, Nieco Fumigation chambers, and Heating chambers. A comprehensive understanding of the flow of materials, both Finished Goods (FG) and Work In Progress (WIP), is essential to ensure compliance with company standards for material treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate effective communication between team members and management.
  • Implement production schedules with precision.
  • Maintain Fork Lift Certification as required.
  • Operate PPO and Fumigation Equipment as necessary.
  • Utilize computer-based systems such as JDE, DSI, and Markem.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Safety Accountability Matrix.
  • Possess relevant knowledge in food manufacturing processes.
  • Exercise decision-making and problem-solving skills as needed.
  • Lead projects and assignments efficiently.
  • Assist with Cycle count and Inventory management within the department.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • QAC license must be obtained during the training period.
  • Monitor input materials for defects and ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Consistently evaluate finished products for quality and compliance with labeling standards.
  • Adhere to safety protocols related to treatment and off-gassing processes.
  • Provide coaching to team members during production to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Participate in safety training and actively engage in safety improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Report accidents and injuries promptly.
  • Submit safety improvement suggestions and participate in their implementation.
  • Familiarity with GMPs and food industry practices.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite and JDE.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in food manufacturing preferred.
  • Bi-lingual candidates are preferred.
  • Willingness to work various shifts and weekends is required.
