Position Overview

We are excited to present an opportunity for the role of Certified Medication Aide/Qualified Medication Aide at Bridgepointe Gardens.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications to residents as prescribed by the attending physician, under the supervision of the charge nurse and the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure medication administration aligns with established nursing standards, facility policies, and state regulations.

Daily Activities:

  • Meet the physical and sensory requirements necessary for the role and adapt to the work environment.
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the customer experience and optimizing workflow.
  • Prepare, administer, and document oral and/or topical medications accurately and safely.
  • Confirm that no medication is given without a valid, signed order from a licensed physician.
  • Verify the identity of residents prior to medication administration.
  • Ensure that medications prescribed for one resident are not given to another.
  • Monitor and confirm that medications are ingested or applied as directed.
  • Document any instances of medication refusal, including reasons.
  • Assist with medication charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of medications and report needs to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Order necessary medications and supplies following established procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy in narcotic records during your shift.
  • Adhere to facility policies regarding medication disposal.
  • Report any discrepancies in drug and narcotic records to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Review medication orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Notify the Charge Nurse/Nursing Supervisor of automatic stop orders before the last dosage is administered.
  • Immediately report any medication administration errors to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Assist with CNA/GMA duties as required.
  • Participate in additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current Medication Aide Certification and Nursing Assistant Certification from the state.
  • Active CPR certification as required by state regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with clinical software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Internet applications.
  • Exhibit a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Customer service-oriented with the capacity to perform well under pressure.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Adaptability to new tasks without written procedures.
  • Approachable and flexible, with a capacity to adjust to change.
  • Ability to function independently while maintaining personal integrity and effective relationships with stakeholders.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily indoors on tiled or carpeted floors.
  • Interaction with co-workers, residents, and their guests.
  • Possible exposure to slippery floors, chemicals, sharp objects, and hazardous materials.
  • Potential for high-stress medical situations.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

  • This position involves significant physical activity.
  • Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds or more is required.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a height of three (3) feet and carry such weight for a distance of fifty (50) feet.
  • Standing or walking for more than four (4) hours daily.
  • Bending or stooping for extended periods.
  • Sitting for more than two (2) hours at a time.
  • Repetitive typing and concentration on screens/documents for over two (2) hours.
