Your Impact
- Administer medications to residents as prescribed by the attending physician, under the supervision of the charge nurse and the Director of Nursing.
- Ensure that medication administration aligns with established nursing standards, as well as the policies and procedures of our facility and state regulations.
Daily Responsibilities
- Meet the physical and sensory requirements necessary for the role and adapt to the work environment.
- Engage in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the customer experience and optimizing workflow.
- Prepare, administer, and document oral and/or topical medications accurately and safely, as per resident needs.
- Confirm that no medication is given without a valid, signed order from a licensed physician.
- Verify the identity of residents prior to medication administration.
- Ensure that medications prescribed for one resident are not mistakenly given to another.
- Monitor and confirm that medications are ingested or applied as directed.
- Document any instances of medication not administered, including reasons for refusal.
- Assist with medication charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Maintain adequate supplies of medications and equipment, reporting needs to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Order necessary medications and supplies following established procedures.
- Ensure accuracy in narcotic records during your shift.
- Adhere to facility policies regarding the disposal of medications.
- Report any discrepancies in drug and narcotic records to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Review medication orders for completeness and accuracy, ensuring adherence to stop order policies.
- Notify the Charge Nurse/Nursing Supervisor of automatic stop orders before the last dosage is administered.
- Immediately report any medication administration errors to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
- Assist with CNA/GMA duties as required.
- Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current Medication Aide Certification and Nursing Assistant Certification from the state.
- Active CPR certification (specific to state requirements).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficient in clinical software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Internet applications.
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels and a collaborative team player.
- Customer service-oriented with the ability to perform well under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make informed decisions.
- Adaptability to new tasks without written procedures.
- Approachable and flexible, with the ability to adjust to change.

Work Environment
- Primarily indoors on tiled or carpeted floors.
- Interaction with co-workers, residents, and their guests.
- Possible exposure to slippery floors, chemicals, sharp objects, and hazardous materials.
- Involvement in high-stress medical and life-threatening situations.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Considerable physical activity is required for this role.
- Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to fifty (50) pounds or more is necessary.
- Ability to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a height of three (3) feet and carry such weight for a distance of fifty (50) feet.
- Standing or walking for more than four (4) hours daily.
- Bending or stooping for extended periods.
- Sitting for prolonged durations.
- Frequent writing and computer work, requiring repetitive typing and focus on screens/documents.
