Position Overview

Congratulations We are excited to present the opportunity for the role of Certified Medication Aide/Qualified Medication Aide at Bridgepointe Gardens.


Your Impact

  • Administer medications to residents as prescribed by the attending physician, under the supervision of the charge nurse and the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure that medication administration aligns with established nursing standards, as well as the policies and procedures of the facility and state regulations.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Meet the physical and sensory requirements necessary for the role and work effectively in the designated environment.
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the customer experience and optimizing workflow.
  • Prepare, administer, and document oral and/or topical medications accurately and safely, as per resident needs.
  • Confirm that no medication is given without a valid, signed, and dated order from a licensed physician.
  • Verify the identity of residents prior to administering any medication or treatment.
  • Ensure that prescribed medications for one resident are not mistakenly given to another.
  • Monitor and confirm that medications are ingested or applied as directed.
  • Document any instances where prescribed medications are not administered, including reasons for refusal.
  • Assist with medication charting as directed by the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of medications, supplies, and equipment is available to meet the nursing needs of residents, reporting any shortages to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Order prescribed medications and supplies as necessary, following established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate narcotic records for your shift.
  • Adhere to facility policies regarding the disposal of medications.
  • Notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any discrepancies in drug and narcotic records observed during your shift.
  • Review medication orders for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to stop order policies.
  • Inform the Charge Nurse/Nursing Supervisor of automatic stop orders before the last dosage is administered.
  • Immediately report any medication administration errors to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Assist with CNA/GMA duties as required.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current Medication Aide Certification and Nursing Assistant Certification from the state.
  • Must possess a current/active CPR certification (state-specific).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Familiarity with clinical software, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Internet applications.
  • Exhibit the highest level of professionalism and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Customer service-oriented with the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make sound decisions.

Work Environment

  • Primarily indoors on tiled or carpeted floors.
  • Interaction with co-workers, residents, and their guests.
  • Potential exposure to slippery floors, chemicals, sharp objects, and hazardous materials.
  • Possible involvement in high-stress medical situations.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • This position requires significant physical activity.
  • Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds or more is required.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a height of three (3) feet and carry such weight for a distance of fifty (50) feet.
  • Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours daily.
  • Bending and/or stooping for more than one (1) hour at a time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of more than two (2) hours.
  • Writing and/or computer work with repetitive typing and concentration on screens/documents for over two (2) hours.
