Established in 2003, Professional Builders Supply operates across the Carolinas, specializing in the sale, installation, and distribution of both residential and commercial building materials, including lumber, siding, trim, doors, windows, decking, and railing.
The organization also runs a truss manufacturing facility in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and offers comprehensive installation services for multifamily projects through its PBS Commercial brand, as well as residential roofing and siding via SouthEnd Exteriors.
Position Summary:
This role involves utilizing computer technology and mathematical expertise to prepare accurate estimates of the materials required for home construction, adhering to company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Calculate the quantity of materials necessary for home construction in compliance with company guidelines and local building regulations.
- Support sales personnel with customer orders and material lists as needed.
- Assist in trim take-offs upon request.
- Provide necessary support to contractors.
- Train sales representatives in effective estimating techniques.
- Help sales staff with blueprint interpretation and construction methodologies.
- Review and compare actual materials used against estimates upon project completion.
- Work at the sales/hardware counter as assigned.
- Adhere to the company's attendance policy by maintaining consistent and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Technical Degree in engineering or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years in construction and building materials.
Essential Skills:
- Proficient in reading blueprints and technical documents.
- Adept at interpreting building plans and managing both abstract and concrete variables.
- Capable of operating networked computer systems and specialized software applications, with the ability to instruct others in their effective use.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Special Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of measurements and basic mathematical principles.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, bend, or stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
