The Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor Trainee (AIT) is an entry-level role aimed at individuals aspiring to pursue management careers in golf course upkeep. This position is structured to equip the individual with hands-on experience and training tailored specifically to prepare them for advancement to a Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor role. The AIT engages in a wide array of maintenance tasks, including but not limited to equipment operation, application of agronomic products, special projects, limited oversight, and administrative responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in turf management or a related discipline, or equivalent trades training and relevant experience in turf management.
  • Understanding of general business administration practices as applied to golf course operations, typically acquired through education.
  • Fundamental knowledge of golf course operations and practices is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Assist the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations and the Golf Course Maintenance Supervisors with interviewing, training, scheduling, and evaluating the performance of the maintenance staff.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of all tasks related to various maintenance positions and ensure proper care and operation of all maintenance equipment.
  • Provide training to staff on correct equipment operation and established procedures to ensure tasks are performed accurately.
  • Obtain a valid Certified Applicator's License registered in the same state as the golf course operation.
  • Promote and enforce safety practices in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, and assist in training employees on safety procedures.
  • Ensure daily departmental tasks are completed and communicate necessary changes to supervisors.
  • Maintain the overall organization and cleanliness of the golf course, equipment, and maintenance facilities.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Irrigation Foreman or Application Foreman as needed.
  • Assist with special repair or modification projects as required.
  • Communicate regularly using a 2-way radio system.
  • Wear personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safety standards.
  • Undertake special projects or other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This role operates in a professional environment and routinely utilizes standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, use hands to handle or feel, and communicate effectively. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations is essential.
