Job Overview: The Claims Oversight Manager at The Ladders is tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the Claims Examiners to ensure optimal workflow, precision, and adherence to regulations. This role involves managing litigation claims and collaborating with legal representatives while supervising the investigation of intricate claims. The Claims Oversight Manager will assess coverage to ascertain the Company's responsibilities regarding claims and ensure compliance with all organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the daily activities of claims examiners and facilitate ongoing training related to adjusting and policy coverage.
  • Engage in the recruitment, selection, and training of new claims examiners.
  • Develop and implement innovative programs aimed at enhancing the efficiency and workflow of claims examiners, while communicating effectively with staff and management.
  • Contribute to the Company’s Minor Initiatives program to improve departmental workflow and efficiency.
  • Analyze information from adjusters, insured parties, contractors, and others to determine the Company's payment obligations for property and liability claims.
  • Assist in the monthly review of open claims and allocate new claims to individual adjusters.
  • Participate in monthly claims meetings and lawsuit log discussions.
  • Review complaints from the Insurance Department and written grievances from clients.
  • Communicate with adjusters, insured parties, and contractors to address inquiries and gather necessary information for coverage evaluation and loss determination.
  • Authorize claim payments within the manager's settlement authority by interpreting policies and adhering to Company guidelines.
  • Decline claim payments in accordance with Company protocols and provide explanation letters to the insured parties.
  • Oversee the investigation of complex claims.
  • Gather and evaluate evidence on liability and property claims to ascertain the insured parties' liability.
  • Supervise negotiations and settlements of claims within the manager's authority when appropriate.
  • Manage litigation claims and coordinate with attorneys.
  • Collaborate with the Claims VP to enhance claim adjuster productivity and improve efficiencies within the claims department.
  • Review and verify claims examiner timesheets daily and approve time-off requests for direct reports.
  • Engage with individual staff members regarding work-related issues and determine corrective actions in line with Company Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Ensure the security of the building/department after all personnel have departed for the day.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of supervisory or management experience in Homeowner Property Insurance is essential.
  • Proficiency in Xactware, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel spreadsheets is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to review adjuster work products for compliance with Company standards.
  • Must possess the capability to obtain a Property and Casualty Adjusters license for all current and/or future states serviced by The Ladders.
