About the Role:
The Director of Technical Services plays a pivotal role in managing all facets of technical operations, focusing on quality assurance, regulatory adherence, and thermal processing within the food production sector. This position demands extensive knowledge of food science, compliance with USFDA regulations, and an understanding of the specific challenges related to both low and high acid food products. The Director will guarantee that all offerings meet the utmost standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency while spearheading continuous improvement efforts throughout the production cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that all products and processes align with USFDA regulations, especially concerning low and high acid foods. Stay informed on relevant food safety standards and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Quality Management: Lead the quality management team to uphold the highest standards of product excellence. Design and execute quality control systems and protocols to ensure uniformity and superiority in all offerings.
- Thermal Processing Oversight: Supervise the creation and validation of thermal processes, ensuring all products are processed safely and effectively. Collaborate closely with R&D and production teams to refine thermal processing techniques.
- Technical Guidance: Provide expert technical support to cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and quality control. Act as the company's authority on food safety and technical services.
- Continuous Improvement Leadership: Propel continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing process to boost product quality, efficiency, and safety. Identify improvement opportunities and lead projects to implement innovative solutions.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and cultivate the technical services team, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork. Ensure all team members receive the training and resources necessary to meet the company's high standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical services capacity within the food manufacturing sector, with a focus on low and high acid foods.
- Comprehensive knowledge of USFDA regulations and food safety standards.
- Significant experience with thermal processing and quality assurance in a food production environment.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
