About the Position

The State of Washington's Medicaid Programs Division is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistance Program Specialist 3 to join our team. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for overseeing medical policies and procedures for the statewide reentry program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Development: Develop and write policies and procedures for the reentry program, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the agency to external stakeholders, including Tribes, the Center for Medicaid and Medicare, and other government entities.
  • Training and Education: Provide community and staff trainings, develop program guidance manuals and training materials, and conduct presentations.
  • Program Management: Administer contracts, perform program and contract monitoring, process claims, and develop and maintain program guidance manuals and training materials.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree from an accredited college with a major study in public health, public administration, business administration, social work, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Three years of supervisory or consultative experience in health services, social service, Medicaid, or social security disability programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Quality Assurance and Process Improvement: Two years of experience working in quality assurance and process improvement methodologies such as Lean or project management experience.
  • Data Analysis and Problem-Solving: Data-oriented, self-directed personality with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Policy Analysis and Development: Analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations, and conducting business analysis and developing requirements.
About the Division

The Medicaid Programs Division is responsible for the implementation and oversight of Washington Medicaid managed care programs serving nearly 2.1 million Washington residents in all 39 counties.

We work across the Health Care Authority (HCA) and in partnership with the health care community and local, state, health care, and federal levels, to develop, and manage high-quality, evidence-based, health care programs and purchases that enhance Apple Health (Medicaid) managed care.
