Role Overview
The Family Support Specialist plays a vital role in our prevention and family assistance initiatives, delivering extensive, long-term home-visiting services through a strengths-based, family-focused approach to high-risk expectant parents and families with young children. In this position, you will engage regularly with families to observe parent-child interactions, assess effective communication and empathetic responses, and facilitate reflective discussions regarding the evolving parent-child relationship. You will collaborate with families to set developmental goals for both children and parents while helping them broaden their support networks.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide parenting guidance and lead parent support groups.
- Assist families in establishing community connections aligned with service objectives, including referrals to early intervention, mental health, healthcare, and other supportive services.
- Develop and sustain collaborative partnerships with essential community service providers.
Candidate Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or higher in Social Work, Child Development, or a related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- A minimum of one year of experience working with families with children under the age of 5.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are advantageous.
- Possession of a valid driver's license, insurance, and a dependable vehicle.
- Strong skills in relationship building and collaboration.
Job Details
- Compensation: $19-$23/hr; offers are based on experience, with additional compensation for bilingual candidates.
- Benefits: Comprehensive medical/dental/vision insurance, over three weeks of paid time off in the first year, 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, and a 401(k) plan with matching contributions.
- Location: Hybrid work model; home visits primarily assigned in designated counties with opportunities for remote work.
- Schedule: Full-time, hourly; standard business hours with some flexibility for evening family visits and special projects.
- Student Loan Forgiveness: Our organization is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
