Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team at the Portland VA Research Foundation. As an HR Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
  • Coordinate performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and employee development plans.
  • Oversee employee relations and handle employee grievances and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee payroll administration, including benefits enrollment and management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and ensure confidentiality of HR information.
  • Provide HR support and guidance to managers and employees, including interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Assess training needs and manage training programs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree; at least five years' experience; or any combination of education, training or work experience which provides the required skill set to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of labor laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively and develop strong employee relations.
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • Superior organization skills, and experience managing overhaul of systems and procedures.
  • Experience with MS office applications with demonstrated ability to use technology tools to solve problems and increase efficiencies.
  • 3-5 years' experience with ADP-Workforce Now platform.

  • Primary job location is located on the VA Portland Health Care System campus.
