Transom Capital Group ("TCG") stands as a prominent private equity firm based in Los Angeles, specializing in operationally-focused investments within the middle-market sector. The TCG team boasts a robust history of investing in, restructuring, and expanding businesses. Central to this achievement is its distinctive methodology of substantial operational engagement and support extended to each portfolio entity.
TCG is in search of a Vice President of Financial Oversight. This role reports to the Portfolio Company Operations Group and is primarily tasked with overseeing daily financial operations across various portfolio entities, encompassing financial reporting, cash flow management, and compliance adherence. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will collaborate with pertinent stakeholders to design and implement strategic initiatives aimed at fostering long-term enterprise value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as TCG's representative for daily finance-related activities at the portfolio company, serving as an effective intermediary between the executive management of the portfolio company and the Board of Directors.
- Oversee financial performance metrics, including KPIs, working capital, capital expenditures, debt covenants, tax obligations, budgets, and general finance and accounting operations at each portfolio company.
- Collaborate with the CFO of the portfolio company to establish best-in-class cash flow management, accounting controls, and treasury operations.
- Engage in weekly cash flow review meetings and manage a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
- Promote standardization in accounting, reporting, and financial operations, delivering 'best-in-class' tools, techniques, and templates to portfolio companies.
- Assess the financial systems of portfolio companies and participate in the implementation or enhancement of these systems.
- Contribute to annual audits and tax reporting for portfolio companies, ensuring timely completion and effective communication of material findings to the audit committee.
- Ensure timely financial reporting from portfolio companies, including presentations for the Board of Directors.
- Provide regular Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) on portfolio company performance to support TCG's internal and external stakeholder reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Over 12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with recent leadership in the finance function of an organization.
- Experience in private equity or with PE-backed companies preferred.
- Background in public accounting.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Process-oriented individual with a proven track record of implementing process improvements.
- Advanced Excel-based financial modeling and budgeting capabilities.
- Strong proficiency in the MS Office suite, particularly PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with SAAS-based accounting/ERP solutions, such as NetSuite.
