About the Role

This position is for a senior-level structural engineer in the A4W Reactor Plant Planning Yard (Department E83) supporting the maintenance, overhaul, and modernization of CVN68 Class aircraft carriers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyzes, researches, and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic, or composite structural materials for product design or operation of product.
  • Tools utilized may include CATIA, IDEAS, ProEngineer, and a variety of software applications.
  • Must have experience with static and dynamic analysis of steel structures and foundations, as well as naval shock and vibration analysis requirements as they relate to foundation design.
  • Alternatively, applicants should have experience with shock testing and qualification of shipboard equipment and components.
  • Specifically, applicants should have experience with finite element analysis (FEA) computer applications, such as Femap, Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, or Pro/Engineer, and with 3-D modeling and drafting programs, such as Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with structural welding, production, and review of foundation and structural drawings, and the evaluation of bolted joints and fasteners is also preferred.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 9 years of relevant exempt experience, or Master's Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience, or Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
