Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our A4W Reactor Plant Planning Yard team at Newport News Shipbuilding. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for analyzing and developing structural engineering specifications for the maintenance, overhaul, and modernization of CVN68 Class aircraft carriers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and develop structural engineering specifications for metals, non-metallic, and composite structural materials
  • Conduct damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling analyses
  • Develop and review shock test procedures and oversee the performance of shock testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 9+ years of relevant exempt experience or Master's Degree with 7+ years of experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
