Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Power Plant Operator II to join our Facilities team at Mercy Medical Center, part of Trinity Health Of New England. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our high temperature hot water system, chillers, oil and water pumps, cooling towers, and energy management systems to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate high temperature hot water system, maintaining proper output temperature relative to the outside temperature for the safety and comfort of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Monitor and maintain the chemical testing log on the hot water and steam generator and chilled water systems, making adjustments as necessary to keep treatment at proper levels and to prevent equipment corrosion.
  • Monitor chiller operations, making adjustments as necessary to maintain a comfort level in the hospital, and report any malfunctions.
  • Monitor the operation of cooling towers, observing for algae in summer or ice in winter, and backwash cooling tower filters as necessary.
  • Monitor the energy management and climate control systems, making adjustments as necessary to ensure efficient operation.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Class II Fireman's license required.
  • Knowledge of high temperature hot water systems and chiller operations preferred.
