Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct project assessments, including the formulation of agreements for work execution. Analyze and interpret construction documents, specifications, and related materials.
  • Prepare Independent Government Cost Estimates essential for the design and procurement of construction contracts.
  • Support the Contracting Officer's Representative by overseeing the implementation of design and construction contracts.
  • Organize meetings, track project progress, and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve unexpected issues.
  • Monitor project budgets, ensure safety on project sites, perform inspections on completed work, and facilitate project closure activities.

As part of the U.S. Department of the Interior, this role is integral to maintaining the integrity of construction projects within national parks. The position involves a commitment to preserving the natural beauty and safety of park environments.

Employment Conditions

  • Individuals currently holding or who have held a General Schedule position must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary, and you will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
  • Uniform compliance with National Park Service standards is mandatory.
  • New employees may be subject to a probationary period.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old due to the nature of the work.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Relevant experience will be credited, including volunteer work through recognized programs.

Experience Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service, which includes overseeing construction projects, interpreting plans, and collaborating with contractors.

Education

No educational substitution is allowed for experience at this grade level.
