We are seeking an experienced Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Duke University Hospital. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our anesthesiologists, residents, and nurse anesthetists in performing anesthetic procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Consult the Operating Room schedule to determine supply and equipment needs for procedures, and prepare anesthetizing locations for indicated procedures.
- Assist anesthesia providers using aseptic or sterile technique with non-invasive and invasive patient procedures, including peripheral and/or central intravenous and/or arterial line placement, airway management techniques, and regional anesthesia techniques.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and physical appearance, and notify anesthesia providers of any abnormal changes.
- Clean and maintain anesthesia equipment, and stock supplies in anesthetizing locations.
- Obtain supplies and equipment as requested by anesthesia providers, and assist with patient laboratory tests and results.
- Participate in emergency procedures, and may act as a resource and role model for other anesthesia technicians, anesthesia providers, and healthcare team members.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in healthcare and/or basic sciences preferred.
- Associated degree in Anesthesia Technology from an accredited ASATT program preferred.
- One year of direct patient contact experience as an Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse, or related clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Basic Life Support Provider Certification required; American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians Certification preferred.
