Job Overview

The Senior Fund Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing sub-advised proprietary fixed income funds and will be responsible for the investment management supervision of various fixed income portfolios and external asset managers. Collaborating closely with the VP of Fixed Income and other senior investment professionals, you will be instrumental in crafting and executing strategies for fixed income and stable value funds/products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of sub-advised proprietary fixed income and stable value funds, ensuring adherence to investment guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence, encompassing both qualitative and quantitative assessments of funds, portfolios, and asset managers.
  • Facilitate the due diligence process for existing funds and maintain relationships with asset managers.
  • Manage the investment guideline process, including negotiations and implementation for various funds and portfolios.
  • Support fellow Fund Managers through a collaborative approach to ensure seamless daily management of fixed income portfolios.
  • Stay informed on market trends, economic conditions, and developments in fixed income securities and stable value industries.
  • Lead the implementation of new funds and oversee the hiring and termination processes for asset managers.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with potential asset managers and conduct due diligence as necessary.
  • Research and prepare comprehensive reports on funds, portfolios, and asset managers for various stakeholders, including internal teams and boards.
  • Work alongside senior investment personnel to develop and implement effective fixed income and stable value strategies.
  • Conduct research to optimize portfolio structures, asset managers, and asset allocation strategies.
  • Develop and enforce appropriate investment policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Implement necessary changes in collaboration with asset managers and other internal groups.
  • Analyze contractual terms and guidelines for stable value investments, collaborating with legal counsel as needed.
  • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with current and prospective issuers and consultants.
  • Contribute to the development of new stable value products and lead special investment-related projects.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and support the development of analysts within the Fixed Income Group.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A wealth of investment experience (7-10 years) focused on fixed-income portfolio analysis and economic trends.
  • Strong knowledge of fixed income securities and stable value investments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present effectively to diverse audiences.
  • A CFA Certification is highly preferred, along with relevant investment management experience.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
