This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. About the JobThe incumbent serves as a full-time staff psychologist in the Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders (SCI/D) Service within the Charlie Norwood VA Healthcare System.
Key Responsibilities- Provides psychological and psychosocial services consistent with contemporary standards of care that is within professional ethics and legal boundaries.
- Clinical care is provided to veterans, in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
- The level of care is complex, often involving co-occurring medical mental health/substance use, and varied social/system support factors.
- Incumbents work with veterans who are at increased risk of severe difficulties in adjusting to medical conditions, greater incidence of medical/mental health crises; complex social and family dynamics; complicated community support networks.
- Direct clinical care includes, but is not limited to: diagnosing mental disorders; conducting psychological and/or neurocognitive assessments; assessing and treating health behavior factors associated with medical conditions; treating mental disorders through a variety of modalities; consultation with other healthcare providers; collaboration with healthcare systems; and providing adjunctive interventions for treatment of mental and medical disorders.
