Job Title: Forensic Psychologist

Job Summary:

The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is seeking a qualified Forensic Psychologist to join our team. As a Forensic Psychologist, you will be responsible for conducting criminal forensic evaluations, including competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct face-to-face forensic mental health evaluations to determine competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility
  • Prepare reports and provide expert testimony as needed
  • Travel within assigned catchment area to conduct evaluations
  • Complete the state's Competency to Stand Trial Certification process within one year of hire

Requirements:

  • Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited college or university
  • Current Georgia license to practice psychology
  • One year of experience at the lower level Psychologist 1 (HCP140) or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of experience working as an inpatient psychologist
  • Completion of a predoctoral internship or postdoctoral fellowship, or both with a focus on the practice of criminal forensic psychology
  • One year of post-licensure experience conducting competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility evaluations
  • Experience providing expert testimony in forensic mental health
