Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled and experienced Attorney General to provide legal counsel and representation to the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program and the Commonwealth Health Research Board.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal counsel and representation to the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program and the Commonwealth Health Research Board.
  • Review and analyze medical records, conduct research, and prepare medical records designations.
  • Conduct all aspects of discovery, including motions practice, and represent the program in litigation before the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission and in Virginia state courts.
  • Attend meetings of the program and board boards and provide legal advice and training to the boards, executive staff, and employees.
Requirements
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in time management, and the ability to manage a significant and challenging caseload are essential.
  • Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of three to five years of civil litigation experience in federal or state court, as well as experience in state administrative litigation, is preferred.
