Job Title: Street Outreach Worker

Covenant House Alaska is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Street Outreach Worker to join our team. As a key member of our outreach team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, trauma-informed service delivery to youth experiencing homelessness on the streets or in highly vulnerable situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain relationships with youth, engaging them in community programs and working through their stages of change to drive long-term positive outcomes.
  • Provide face-to-face mobile support and intervention to youth in multiple settings, including camps, shelters, and other locations.
  • Coordinate with community efforts to conduct street outreach and provide support, referral, and other services to at-risk youth.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with the general public, including placement agencies and families of the youth we serve.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of youth seen by CHA at all times.
Requirements:
  • High school degree required; Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescent or disadvantaged populations preferred; life, volunteer, and internship experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of community social service resources, crisis intervention, and ability to address conflict between youth exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while understanding and complying with requirements of mandated reporting, duty to warn, HIPAA, and other limits to confidentiality.
Working Conditions:

The Street Outreach Worker will work in a variety of settings, both inside and outside, and at times in inclement weather. The position will be based out of the Youth Engagement Center.
