Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Equipment Operator to join our team at Vestas. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment to transport turbine blades and components, as well as supporting factory operations with all heavy equipment needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Heavy Equipment Safely: Safely operate all heavy equipment in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including standard and non-standard lifts on objects up to 9 tons and up to 8' in length in various lighting and weather conditions.
  • Perform Daily Safety Inspections: Perform daily safety inspections on equipment and rigging, and maintain inspection records.
  • Transport Blades and Components: Move blades to and from production areas as needed, physically prepare blades for shipping, including documentation, load blades onto trains and trucks for shipment, and direct blade transporters on correct blade transport interface configurations and procedures.
  • Clear Snow and Maintain Facilities: Clear and remove snow from walkways, receiving/shipping yards, and other areas as needed.
  • Drive Company Vehicle: Drive company vehicles for errands and to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from racks, production floor, or receiving.
  • Review Production Schedule and Customer Orders: Review production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Maintain Inspection Records and Inventory: Maintain inspection records, create shipment manifests, and maintain inventory records through the use of smartphones and computers.
Essential Functions
  • Safely Operate Heavy Equipment: Able to safely operate all heavy equipment according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Climb Ladders: Able to climb 8' ladders.
  • See and Hear Alarms: Must be able to see and hear alarms, timers, and follow verbal instructions.
  • Work in Extreme Weather: Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment: Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of the task.
  • Regular and Reliable Attendance: Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Lift and Exert Force: Ability to lift up to lbs and exert up to lbs of force occasionally throughout the shift.
Education, Training, and Skills Required
  • Certification in Heavy Equipment Operations: Prefer certification in any of the following: Rigger level 1, Heavy Equipment Operations, Mobile Crane, or Rail/Truck Transport General Knowledge.
  • Valid State Driver's License: Valid state driver's license required.
