Job Summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for performing inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and service of fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards.
  • Test and troubleshoot initiating devices, notification appliances, and system components to address malfunctions or deficiencies.
  • Assist in inspections and testing of interconnected systems, including elevators, HVAC shutdown, and fire doors.
  • Document all service activities, including inspection results and repairs, and complete testing reports with noted deficiencies.
  • Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting of recommended repairs.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices.
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems, and determine materials needed for repairs.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance standards.
Requirements
  • Minimum of high school degree and three years of related experience or two years technology degree and one year of related experience.
  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I or pass NICET I exam within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to obtain US Clearance, minimum DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Position is subject to an additional customer background check.
  • This position will require up to 15% travel throughout the United States.
  • Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic.
  • Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 and OSHA Requirements.
  • Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress.
  • Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility.
  • Above average communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  • Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
